GALATIANS 2:14 ~ ~ ~ A Masterpiece of Shameful Netzarim Deception... [ The Grammatical Analysis of Galatians 2:14


Here is an OPEN INVITATION to the Netzarim publishing house or any defender of that persuasion or the AENT translation:

Please tell me WHERE the Aramaic text for Galatians 2:14 is hidden which supports that verse as translated in the AENT.  
I will be glad to see it and publish it !

In some cases, both sources are woven together into this translation, under a unifying editorial vision and approach. ... " ( Of Course, Mr. Younan did not translate Galatians .)

Now, let us discover exactly WHAT the Aramaic Text of the Peshitta is saying.

Below are the 26 words of Galatians 2:14 in the B & FB Society text and below that is the Khabouris unpointed text.

Galatians 2:14 - And when I saw, that they did not walk correctly, in the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas, before them all: If thou art a Jew, and livest in the Gentile way, and not in the Jewish, why dost thou compel the Gentiles to live in the Jewish way ? ~  Dr. James Murdock
The Netzari Press AENT "translates" this same verse on page 562, mis-pag. edition, using the same Aramaic text which is printed above like this: 

 But behold! When those who did not follow righteously the truth of the GOOD NEWS, said I to Peter, to the eyes of them all, "If you who are Yehudeans live as Arameans ( 3 text words here omitted in the translation: "and not Jewishly ")  ; why do you urge the Gentiles who have joined themselves to Yehuda ( no Aramaic Text for the last 6 words highlighted in yellow ! ) to live as Yehudeans ?"

Is this simply a typing error ? No. The AENT's appendix re: Judaizers re-iterates this mis-translation on page 891, mis-pag. edition. 

WHERE CAN THAT "MISSING TEXT" BE FOUND ? 

Surely, no translation of integrity would deliberately add a clause to a translation without SOME textual support.

But this clause: who have joined themselves to Yehuda


  • is not in the British and Foreign Society Peshitta Text, printed above.  
  • It is not found in the Khabouris Text C , printed above. 
  • It is NOT in Dr. Stephen P. Silver's Khabouris T Text either, found on Dukhrana but not printed here on this page . 


It is NOT found in ANY Greek New Testament manuscripts, 

  • not even including the variables listed in Nestle-Aland's Greek text nor the Robinson-Pierpont text.  ! Here is Robinson-Pierpont's Byzantine Greek manuscript, again thanks to Dukhrana: 


Galatians 2:14 - αλλ οτε ειδον οτι ουκ ορθοποδουσιν προς την αληθειαν του ευαγγελιου ειπον τω πετρω εμπροσθεν παντων ει συ ιουδαιος υπαρχων εθνικως ζης και ουκ ιουδαικως τι τα εθνη αναγκαζεις ιουδαιζειν 

No, it is not to be seen in the Greek Text!

Well... perhaps the Netzarim publishing house dipped into the Latin Vulgate to retrieve the "text" behind that verse's translation ?  Here it is, also courtesy of Dukhrana: 

 Galatians 2:14 - Sed cum vidissem quod non recte ambularent ad veritatem Evangelii, dixi Cephæ coram omnibus: Si tu, cum Iudæus sis, Gentiliter vivis, et non Iudaice: quomodo Gentes cogis Iudaizare?

Alas, it is not in the Text of the Latin Vulgate either!

~ ~ ~ The Grammatical Analysis of Galatians 2:14 ~ ~ ~
according to the rules of Aramaic grammar usage and the standard lexicons 

Let us start with the first highlighted words in this verse. The Aramaic words are numbered for ease in locating them in the Aramaic Text.  All parsing information is from: Dukhrana.com or the Comprehensive Aramaic Lexicon ( CAL ) from the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, Ohio. Other resources include: lexicons by William Jennings, Jesse-Payne Smith, or Noldeke's Compendious Syriac Grammar. Many thanks to all !

1.   ܘܟ݂ܰܕ݂   This word is / w'kad / = "and - when"


2.   ܚܙܺܝܬ݂    This word is / CH z ee t /  = " I saw" because it is the first person, common, singular,  form of the verb to see or to behold, Perfect Peal form.  That means:  "I" as first person singular is included in the verb form. Perfect = a completed action, hence the past tense is used. Peal is the basic form of the verb.

Note Bene ( well) [... i.e., take good notice of this fact] :
 The Netzarim New Testament translates these two words as: But behold!  

However, "but" is NEVER translated from the word /kad/, which always means = when, after, while, where. 

The word for "behold"  is a verb form, not an interjection.  To use behold correctly, then,in the grammatical form in this verse would be to translate it as " I beheld" .  The exclamation point is an arbitrary punctuation added by the translator. 

3.   ܕ݁ܠܳܐ  = / d'lah /  D' = that or of or who; in this case, "that" as a relative pronoun introducing a relative clause.Lah = "not." Most would pronounce the first /ah/ vowel as / long O /, but pronunciation is outside of the scope of this discussion.

4.   ܐܳܙܺܠ݈ܝܢ     = / ahZiLy'N / = they  were going = TO GO, DEPART ; active participle = goING, Peal form ( basic meaning of the verb) ;  3rd person, masculine , plural = they.


NB:  To use "follow" as an accurate translation of this verb, there must be a SECOND word with it / BTR /, a particle, which renders the meaning " to follow after,"  according to Jesse Payne-Smith, page 9, first column, bottom half of page,  A Compendious Syriac Dictionary.   Without that particle BTR, the verb only means to go, to depart. 

Hence  :  "that they were not going "

5. ܬ݁ܪܺܝܨܳܐܝܺܬ݂  = / tr ee dz ai Yt / = This is the adverb form of "right" or "upright"  ... hence "uprightly".  The grammatical ending for many adverbs is  /AiYT / , which we see here  at the end of this word, in   ܐܝܺܬ݂. The root of the word is TRdZ.


6.  ܒ݁ܰܫܪܳܪܶܗ  =  / BahSHRah reh/  = This word means "in the Truth" = Masc Sg Emphatic / suffix= 3rd person masc sg. The root is SHR. 

7.    ܕ݁ܶܐܘܰܢܓ݁ܶܠܺܝܳܘܢ    = / deh' ahvangel ee yan / = This is a Greek loanword, known as "evangeli..." and it means The GOSPEL or more literally, the GOOD NEWS, masc. sg.  The d' at the beginning of the word means "of" in this sentences. So the phrase is translated  as " of the GOOD NEWS"

8.     ܐܶܡܪܶܬ݂   =  / ehMRehT / =  verb "to say, speak". It is Perfect Peal = said = first person, common, singular, hence: " I said " 

9.  ܠܟ݂ܺܐܦ݂ܳܐ  = /  L'KeePHa /  =  L = "to" + Keepha, translated into English = "to Peter" 


10. ܠܥܺܝܢ  = /  L' eeYN / = L = "to" + the eye, fem. sing. construct ( This word makes an idiomatic phrase with the following word. ) ...

11.  ܟ݁ܽܠܗܽܘܢ  = / KUL HUN / = all of them, 3rd person, masc, plural. Used with the previous word in the construct form, it forms an expression meaning " before them all " or "before all of them" 

12. ܐܶܢ  = / ehN / = " if " , particle

13.  ܐܰܢ݈ܬ݁  = / ahNT / = "you "  , 2nd person, masc singular, pronoun  "are" is understood in this phrase; so it reads, "you..."  but the understood verb "are" , in English comprehension, goes after the   d'  in the following word: 

14. ܕ݁ܺܝܗܽܘܕ݂ܳܝܳܐ   = / dee' YHUDahYah / an adjective form of Jew, which would be "Jewish" ; the beginning dee' = "who (are) Jewish or JuHudian "  

15. ܐܰܢ݈ܬ݁  = / ahNT / = "you "  , 2nd person, masc singular, pronoun  "are" is understood in this phrase; so it reads, "you are "  

16. ܐܰܪܡܳܐܝܺܬ݂ = /  ahRMah AiYT / = Gentiles, or Armaenians is the root word, but it has the standard adverb ending on it , AiYT,  so it means " Aramaenly " ( i.e., like pagans). 

17.ܚܳܝܶܐ = / CHah Yeh / = verb Active Participle Peal , 2nd masc singular ( you ) = " living" 

18. ܐܰܢ݈ܬ݁  = / ahNT / = "you "  , 2nd person, masc singular, pronoun  "are" is understood in this phrase; so it reads, "you are "  

19. ܘܠܳܐ   = / V'Lah /  = "and not" 

20. ܝܺܗܽܘܕ݂ܳܐܝܺܬ݂    = / Y ee Hu Dah AiYT /  = adverb form again, "Jewishly"  or "as a Jew" 

21.   ܐܰܝܟ݁ܰܢܳܐ  = / ah ee Kah Nah /  = particle, emphatic = as , how
NB: Translators usually always translate this word as "as" or "how" in the many, many instances it is used throughout the New Covenant.  In this verse, however, it is always translated as "why".   Why, I do not know ! 

22.ܐܳܠܶܨ  = / ah Leh dZ / = verb, "urge, compel" . 2nd masc sing., Active Participle, Peal = " you ( are ) compelling"  

23. ܐܰܢ݈ܬ݁  = / ahNT / = "you "  , 2nd person, masc singular, pronoun  "are" is understood in this phrase; it goes with the above active participle verb. 

24.ܠܥܰܡ݈ܡܶܐ   = / L' aM Meh / = masculine plural emphatic alluding to specific groups of people; here it means "the Gentiles", when plural in the Syriac language ( see CAL ) .

25.  ܕ݁ܺܝܗܽܘܕ݂ܳܐܝܺܬ = / d'ee Y 'Hu Dah AiYT / = d'ee = that + Jewishly or Judaically ( adverb form )  =  " that Judaically" 

26.  ܢܺܚܽܘܢ܀  = / Nee CHUN / = verb "to live" , 3rd person masculine plural = they;  imperfect Peal = should live. Hence = "they should live."
