THY WORD IS VERY PURE; THEREFORE THY SERVANT LOVETH IT.
MOSHIAK or MASHIYACH ?
The 2nd
Identity of GOD in The ELOHIM has two names, and each one is variously
spelled.
They may sound alike to some students of Hebrew
and they may look alike to the casual reader . . . but they are different.
The two words come from
Sounding and looking similar, they actually
stem from two different Hebrew root consonants.
Furthermore, they mean two
different things.
Yet, these two names --- titles, as some would
call them --- both refer to the 2nd
Identity of GOD in The ELOHIM.
The first one, MOSHIAK , the Hiphil form HOSHIYA [ plus M for
the participle ] which is from Yod-Shin-Ayin
= to deliver, to save, to set free.
is found
in two verses in the Masoretic text. {
Isaiah 43:3 and Jeremiah 30:10 } It has
the “aK” ending
, , which means “your” --- singular,
masculine.
ISAIAH 43:3For I AM The LORD thy GOD, The HOLY ONE of Israel, thy SAVIOUR.
I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
TransLITERated into English:
For I am Y’HOVAH ELOHEYAK,
the HOLY of Israel, the MOSHIYeAK
However, much more frequent in the Masoretic
text is the basic word, MOSHIYA ,
which means SAVIOR, DELIVERER, as in
ISAIAH 43:11
I, even I Am the LORD;
and beside ME,
there is no SAVIOUR.
From MOSHIYA we have MOSHIAK which means “your SAVIOR ” and is used in reference to the
nation of Israel.
An interesting observation is that many English writers transliterate this word with a “CH” on the end of it [ MOSHIACH ].
These writers indicate NOT a hard “ch” but instead, try to transliterate it as “MOSHIAchhh” to reflect a breathy, soft “K”, following cantillation markings.
Without the
“aK” ( meaning, “your” ) at the end of the word MOSHIYA , it simply
means SAVIOUR , a
Hiphil participle form of YOD-SHIN-AYIN.
Observe that the “M” at the beginning of the
word MOSHIYA is a participle preformative “indicator.” { Kittel et al, Biblical
Hebrew: A Text and Workbook, Yale University Press, 1989, page 373.} and numerous other
Hebrew grammars.
According to Ernest Klein --- “SAVIOR:
substantive use of the participle of HOSHIYA, the Hiphil of Yod-SHin-AYIN,” {
Ernest Klein, A Comprehensive Etymological Dictionary of the Hebrew
Language for Readers of English, University of Haifa, 1987, page 328.}

NOW THEN . . . The Second Name or Title of The 2nd
Identity of GOD in The ELOHIM is MASHIACH.
In
Aramaic, M’SHIKHA.
MASHIACH or MASHIYACH is found in two verses in the Hebrew: Daniel 9:25
and 26.
In Daniel 9:25
Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
In Daniel 9:26
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Now, this word MASHIACH is NOT A PARTICIPLE form like M-OSHI-AK.
The MEM at the beginning of MASHIACH is a ROOT letter.
The ROOT of MASHIACH is Mem-SHin-CHet, that is, MawSHaCH :
מָשַׁח
This ROOT מָשַׁח means
TO ANOINT.
MASHIACH is the adjective form of the verb, and it
means
The ANOINTED ONE.
pg. 519, Benjamin Davidson’s The Analytical Hebrew and
Chaldee Lexicon.
Of utmost interest is the connection associated
with MawSHaCH, to anoint.
This
verb in the cognate languages ALSO meant to smear with oil or grease and / or
to CRUSH or SMASH { olives } in order to make the Anointing Oil.
Hebrew priests and kings and altars were
anointed with the special oil of Anointing, Exodus 30. Even more, the cakes of fine flour,
unleavened wafers were anointed with oil.
The “Bread of HIS Face / Presence”
likely were also anointed with oil, as that was The SHEWBREAD kept in order
upon the Altar . Literally: “ The BREAD of (HIS) FACES”
Now note this well: all flour and olives were CRUSHED and GROUND , in order to make an offering in Righteousness unto The LORD.And if thou bring an oblation of a meat offering baken in the oven, it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, or unleavened wafers anointed with oil. Leviticus 2:4
Hence, we find the Hebrew WORD PICTURE for anoint from the ancient Hebrew letters to indicated
this:
- Mem = the symbol for water = water flowing or moving down stream
- SHin = strong teeth = to destroy, devour, consume, something sharp
- CHet = a fence or hedge to separate, cut off from, or to protect.
Dr. Frank T. Seekins explains the Hebrew
pictograph for Anoint like this:
Ma-shach water of
humility
Olives are CRUSHED to make oil.
Mem – water
Shach – strong word for humble
Dr. Frank T. Seekins, Hebrew Word Pictures, 2012, pg. 143
He explains the pictograph for Shin-Chet (
humble) as a person flat on his face before a destroyed ( SHIN ) wall ( CHET).
“When the wall of a city is knocked down, when all defenses are gone, there
is humility.”
ANOINT
then, is seen derived from the
“flowing water of humility.” [ Pardon the shewa; it should not be there.]

Thus, the 2nd
Identity of GOD in The ELOHIM is portrayed by TWO Names:
M-0SHI-AK,
from HOSHIYA ,
meaning Your SAVIOUR
and
MASHIACH,
meaning ANOINTED ONE.
The 2nd
Identity of GOD in The ELOHIM is:
“Your SAVIOUR, the ANOINTED
ONE”.
